TRADE TEST CATEGORIES

The Manpower Training Act MO56 of 1981 makes provision for two categories of candidates to undergo a trade test.  Although the test and the standards set for acceptable performance are identical, the application forms are different.  When applying for a trade test please complete the forms for the category you fall under.

INDENTURED APPRENTICE

RECOMMENDED TRADE TEST PROCEDURE

This document outlines the procedure to undergo a trade test under Merseta.

TRADE TEST READINESS ASSESSMENT

Candidates for a trade test undergo a “trail” trade test under trade test conditions.  Their performance enables us to determine areas of weakness and the amount of training and preparation required before attempting a trade test. 

DURATION:

2 Days

A report outlining the candidates performance and a recommendation of the period required for training and trade test preparation will be provided.  At the same time we will apply for a trade test date.

TRAINING AND TRADE TEST PREPERATION

This comprise of training to overcome skill shortcomings identified during the readiness assessment as well as rounding of practise to ensure candidates will meet trade test requirements of accuracy, finish and time standards.

DURATION:    Depends on the findings of the Assessment – usually between 6 and 8 weeks.  Training period to end the day before the trade test at Saj.

ACCOMMODATION

We operate a modern guesthouse for our learners.  Fees include meals and learners are transported to and from the training centre.
